IELTS & ELICOS Requirements
  • Bachelors:A minimum 6.0 bands with ELICOS
  • Masters:A minimum 6.0 bands with ELICOS
  • Certain universities have certain specific IELTS
  • requirements for certain specific courses.
  • Generally 0.5 bands less than the standard
  • requirement will invite a minimum 10 weeks of ELICOS.

Minimum cost of living

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection has financial requirements you must meet in order to receive a student visa for Australia. From 1 July 2016 the 12 month living cost is:

  • Studnet - $19,830
  • Partner or spouse - $6,940
  • Child - $2,970
Accommodation
  • Hostels and Guesthouses - $90 to $150 per week
  • Shared Rental - $85 to $215 per week
  • On campus - $90 to $280 per week
  • Homestay - $235 to $325 per week
  • Rental - $165 to $440 per week
  • Boarding schools - $11,000 to $22,000 a year

Student successfully completing at least two academic years in Australia towards gaining a qualification /award is eligible for Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485). This visa has two streams:

  • Graduate work (18 months) for diploma, degree or trade qualification meeting Australia study requirements and nominating a qualification on OSL
  • Post-study work (up to 4 years, depending on the qualification) for some completing an Australian higher education qualification (Bachelors or masters) irrespective of the field of study
